Fire up the grill and try this delicious Tex-Mex twist on the turkey burger. Serve these juicy, turkey patties on warm, whole wheat tortillas with freshly made corn salsa. 36 grams of protein and a lean 268 calories.

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/4 pounds extra-lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup AllWhites® egg whites
  • 1/3 cup finely crushed baked or regular tortilla chips
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup frozen whole kernel corn, thawed
  • 1/2 cup  finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Substitutions:

To make patty melts, top the hot, cooked turkey burgers with Crystal Farms® shredded Mexican cheese blend.

Instructions:
    1. Heat grill to medium-high heat. Gently mix turkey, AllWhites egg whites, crushed tortilla chips, chili powder and salt and pepper. Shape into 4 oblong patties; refrigerate until ready to cook.
    2. Meanwhile, mix lime juice, sugar, and oil in medium bowl. Add corn, bell pepper, onion and cilantro; stir until well combined.
    3. Place turkey patties on grill; cook 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until no longer pink in center.
    4. Serve grilled turkey patties wrapped in warm whole-wheat tortillas, with a spoonful of corn relish.
